Bluster

Like clouds and wind without rain is one who boasts of gifts never given. Proverbs 25:14

Saying we’ll give is always much easier than actually giving.

“He’s all talk”, is an idiom we’re familiar with. Talking often about doing something, but never actually doing it. There is something so disappointing and unfulfilling about words that aren’t acted upon. Like clouds and wind without rain. Just bluster. Empty promises. Our words lose their power and become just air pushed around our mouth. When I say I’m going to give – I’m going to try my best to give.

Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? James 2:15-16
